Brenton Skating Plaza Celebrates Season's Final Skating Weekend

March 4, 2016

Brenton Skating Plaza will be open for its final weekend of the season this Saturday and Sunday. The last session for public ice skating will be Sunday, March 6, from Noon – 6 p.m. Greater Des Moines residents are encouraged to enjoy one last weekend of skating in great weather. To celebrate, Brenton Skating Plaza will offer deals on concessions, including hot chocolate and cappuccino.

Though the winter skating season is coming to a close, Brenton Skating Plaza’s canopy will be installed in April for the third year and will be available to rent in May through Mid-October. The 160-foot canopy enables Brenton Skating Plaza to function as a unique outdoor venue, offering panoramic cityscape views and the benefit of rain and sun protection.

“It is always bittersweet to say goodbye to the ice at this time of the year, but it is exciting to know that we are hitting warmer weather and will soon be able to host events under our canopy,” said Robbin McClelland, General Manager of Brenton Skating Plaza. “I hope to see many people take advantage of skating this weekend, and enjoy the space for outdoor events this spring and summer.”

Visit BrentonPlaza.com for more information about facility rental or public skating hours today through Sunday.
