2014 Central Iowa Human Capital Survey Now Available

August 27, 2014

The Greater Des Moines Partnership, in collaboration with Character Counts In Iowa and the Institute for Excellence & Ethics, today announced it is again conducting a survey to determine how embedded the local talent is in the community and in the workplace, based on connectedness to people, place and purpose. The results of this survey will provide direction to community and business leaders in Central Iowa on what more needs to be done to enhance opportunity, access and quality of life in Central Iowa.

“Central Iowa continues to earn national media attention as one of the ‘Best Places’ in the country! In 2014 alone, Greater Des Moines was named the ‘Wealthiest City in America,’ (NBC’s TODAY Show), the ‘#1 Strongest Local Economy,’ (POLICOM Corporation), and the ‘#1 Best Place for YPs’ (Forbes magazine). There are dozens more accolades,” said Mary Bontrager, Executive Vice President, Workforce Development/Education for the Partnership. “This survey will help us identify how we can assure our local talent is thriving and if they feel engaged. We need to be sure our workforce feels like they have the resources to reach their full potential both personally and professionally.”

This is the second year the survey has been offered to the community. Through the results, business and community leaders will have a snapshot on what is working, what is needed, and what can be improved within the working environments throughout Central Iowa. The survey can be accessed here.

“Key to maintaining positive momentum in our region is assuring our local talent is thriving,” said Scott Raecker, Executive Director of Character Counts In Iowa. “Is Central Iowa investing wisely in our Human Capital? To be certain, we need to continue to ask our most important asset – our local talent - if Central Iowa is a community where they can reach their full potential.”

The survey will be distributed via email to the Partnership’s Regional Member network and social media. All residents of Central Iowa are encouraged to participate in the survey. It takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. All responses will remain confidential and anonymous. Results will be shared only in composite form.
