Over the course of her award-winning career, Tayari Jones’s novels and essays have explored the vagaries of birth and fate, the bitterness of injustice, and the persistent power of love. New York Times best-selling author, Tayari Jones, is the author of four novels, most recently “An American Marriage. Published in 2018, An American Marriage is an Oprah’s Book Club Selection and also appeared on Barack Obama’s summer reading list as well as his end of the year roundup. The novel was awarded the Women’s Prize for Fiction (formerly known as the Orange Prize), Aspen Words Prize and an NAACP Image Award.  With over 500,000 copies in print domestically, it has been published in two dozen countries.

Jones is a graduate of Spelman College, the University of Iowa and Arizona State University, and is currently a Charles Howard Candler Professor at Emory University and A.D. White Professor At Large at Cornell University.

Lara Prescott received her MFA from the Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas, Austin. She was previously an animal protection advocate and a political campaign operative. She won the 2016 Crazyhorse Fiction Prize for the first chapter of "The Secrets We Kept." She lives in Austin, Texas.
