Date: Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018 5:00 p.m.
Location: State Historical Museum of Iowa, 600 E. Locust Street, 50319
Event Information
Description
Gangsters. Jazzy speakeasies. Bathtubs full of bootleg gin.
The era of Prohibition has fueled countless novels and Hollywood movies. But the real story of that turbulent time, from 1920 through 1933, is even more interesting.
Learn all about it during the next "History on the Rocks" event, featuring Central College historian Lori Witt, who will discuss how Prohibition impacted the United States. She'll be joined by a panel of Iowa brewers, Teresa Albert of Millstream Brewing Co., RJ Tursi of Exile Brewing and Dave Ropte of 515 Brewing, who will highlight the history of brewing in Iowa.
While you're here, be sure to tour the traveling exhibition "Spirited: Prohibition in America," on display Sept. 1 through Oct. 20.
